  • Resumen
    • The main objective of this study is to examine the relationship between basic motor skills (BMS) and general dynamic coordination (GDC), essential elements of Motor Competence, in pre-pubertal schoolchildren, in the promotion of Physical Activity. A longitudinal study was carried out in the “Observatorio de Actividad Física en escolares, https://observatorioactividadfisica.es”, during the 2021–2022 schoolchildren. Forty-eight healthy schoolchildren from two schools were assessed: 19 girls, mean age 9.75 (±0.39) years. The MOBAK 5-6 battery was used to assess BMS and the KTK test was used to analyse GDC. A multiple linear regression analysis was applied between both tests (MOBAK 5-6 and KTK), adjusted for sex, age and school variables. A significant relationship was found between the scores of the two components of the MOBAK test and the four items of the KTK battery. Furthermore, the MOBAK 5-6 battery total score, Mobak total (MTT), showed interdependence with the KTK total score, Total Motor Quotient (COMTT), (r2 = 0.591; p<0.001). In conclusion, a strong positive correlation was observed between BMS and GDC. These findings highlight the importance of designing interventions focused on improvements in BMS and GDC to promote physical activity and healthy habits at this age
