    Aquest estudi forma part d’un projecte que té com a objectiu oferir una anàlisi completa de les perífrasis verbals aspectuals en català des de l’edat mitjana fins a l’actualitat. En aquest article volem esbrinar l’origen de la perífrasi “usar (de) +inf” en català antic (ss. xi-xvi) a partir de les dades que ens ofereixen els corpus. Per assolir aquest objectiu, presentarem l’estructura semàntica del verb usar. A fi de destriar els valors que aquest verb té en català antic, seguim la proposta metodològica explicativa d’orientació cognitiva de Traugott (2012), la Invited Inferencing.Theory of Semantic Change (IITSC), el concepte de subjectivació de Traugott i Dasher (2002), Traugott (2010a, 2010b, 2012) i el concepte de prominència (primary focus, Langacker 2008 i 2012).Els resultats obtinguts ens menen a considerar que el verb usar presentava una estructura semàntica més complexa en català antic respecte de l’actualitat i no es desplegava en construccions perifràstiques. Les documentacions de la perífrasi “usar (de)+ inf”, com a sinònima de “acostumar (a/de) + inf” o “soler + inf” són transferències de l’italià.

    This study is part of a project that aims to offer a complete analysis of aspectual verbal periphrases in Old Catalan to the present day. Using data provided by current grammatical studies, lexicographical works and corpora, we analyse the origin of the periphrasis “usar (de)+ inf”. To achive this purpose, we determine the semantic evolution of the verb usar between the 12th and 16th centuries. In order to distinguish the senses of usar in Old Catalan, we apply a methodology based on the semantics of cognitive orientation of Traugott (2012), the Invited Inferencing.Theory of Semantic Change (IITSC), the subjectivation concept of Traugott and.Dasher (2002), Traugott (2010a, 2010b, 2012) and the concept of prominence (primary focus, Langacker 2008 and 2012).The results obtained have lead us to consider that the verb usar had a more complex semantic structure in Old Catalan than in contemporary Catalan, however it does not develop periphrastic constructions. The periphrasis “usar (de) + inf”, as a synonym for “acostumar (a/de) + inf” or soler+inf is the result of the influence of Italian.
