Perception of the musical genre of Hip Hop among youths aged 16 to 20 residing in the locality of Ciudad Bolívar, Bogotá, Colombia

    • This paper presents the results of a qualitative research conducted with a group of young people from Ciudad Bolivar, located in Bogota, Colombia. The research was carried out with the support of the Fundación Universitaria San Martín and the parish Santa Margarita Reina de Escocia, with the objective of understanding the perception of the Hip Hop musical genre among the youth of Ciudad Bolívar. To collect the data, an in-depth interview instrument was used, applied to a Scout organization made up of young people from different sectors of the locality. Through the analysis of the results, the perception of Hip Hop was identified and the musical genre with the greatest acceptance was determined, as well as the musical tastes and preferences with which young people feel identified in Ciudad Bolivar. This locality, located in the southwest of the city, is characterized by its wide cultural diversity. The objective of the study is to deepen the understanding of Hip Hop as a form of cultural expression, analyzing its language, emotional meaning and its impact on the identity of young people in this community. The study seeks to determine the social and cultural association that young people have with this urban genre, through their individual perceptions and conceptualizations. In summary, the study aims to give a deeper sense of the meaning that the youth of Ciudad Bolivar attribute to Hip Hop within their sociocultural context
