Hacia un modelo autónomo en las prácticas de laboratorio de histología humana

    Desde el curso 2016-2017 el equipo docente responsable de la asignatura Histología Humana en el grado de Odontología de la Universidad del País Vaso viene implantando una nueva metodología en las prácticas de laboratorio. Esta nueva metodología permite ahondar principalmente en la competencia transversal del trabajo autónomo sin dejar de lado las competencias propias de la asignatura.

    El nuevo método que se está trabajando se realiza de la siguiente forma. Previamente a la impartición de las prácticas, las preparaciones histológicas que se trabajan se depositan en un repositorio digital, escaneadas en un formato que permite su visualización usando plataformas de microscopia virtual de libre acceso. Antes de la sesión práctica presencial, el profesor o profesora responsable facilita al alumnado las preparaciones virtuales de las muestras correspondientes a dicha sesión. Trabajando en su ordenador, cada estudiante, con la ayuda de material bibliográfico —libros de texto o atlas de histología—, busca en la muestra los objetivos que se trabajarán en la sesión presencial, captura las imágenes correspondientes, las copia en la ficha de prácticas y señala los objetivos a mano. En la sesión presencial, utilizando el microscopio real, las alumnas y alumnos buscan los objetivos de la práctica utilizando como apoyo el material trabajado previamente. Una vez localizado cada objetivo, realizan un dibujo representativo en la ficha de prácticas. Paralelamente, durante esta clase presencial, el profesor o profesora va realizando un seguimiento del trabajo de cada alumno o alumna validando las búsquedas realizadas. Al terminar la clase, cada estudiante entrega la ficha de prácticas donde aparece tanto el trabajo presencial como el no presencial y, tras ser evaluado por el profesorado, se le devuelve con la retroalimentación correspondiente.

    Since the academic year 2016/2017, the lecturers of the Histology subject of the first year of the Dentistry degree in the University of the Basque Country have implemented a new methodology, which has been performed during microscopy practical sessions. This approach allows the students to work and develop transversal abilities, such as autonomy, without putting the intrinsic competences of the subject to one side.

    We put this new methodology into practice, working both with the Spanish language student team and the Basque language team. Two different periods can be distinguished in each practical session: a period outside the classroom and a face-to-face lecture. During the period outside the classroom, the students had to examine by themselves the corresponding histological samples, using free access virtual microscopy platforms. Such histological samples were previously scanned and uploaded. Each student, by using his/her computer and with the help of bibliographic material, such as histology books or atlases, had to find the histological targets that would be analyzed during the face-to-face session and, then, make an image capture. Afterwards, the students pasted the image in the working notebook and printed it. In order to benefit the learning of the new concepts, the students had to mark the histological targets by hand. Later, during the face-to-face lecture, the students, by using the real microscope and histological samples and with the help of previously developed work outside the classroom, had to find the requested objectives and draw them in the notebook, next to the printed corresponding image. At the same time, the lecturer reviewed the work conducted by the students. Once the lecture had finished, the students gave the lecturer the assignment for correction. After making the appropriate corrections, the lecturer gave the work back to the students in order to promote positive feedback
