Las personas con discapacidad, el derecho a la educación y la Convención sobre los Derechos del Niño en América Latina

  Desde la Convención sobre los Derechos del Niño (1989) hasta la sobre los Derechos de las Personas con Discapacidad (2008), pasando por la Convención Interamericana para la Eliminación de Todas las Formas de Discriminación contra las Personas con Discapacidad (2001), los países latinoamericanos han ratificado dichos tratados e implementado legalmente sus principios. Este artículo recoge las observaciones y recomendaciones del Comité de los Derechos del Niño con relación a la educación de las personas con discapacidad. Se observa que a nivel normativo han existido grandes avances que contrastan con la discriminación todavía existente en muchos países.

  The Latin-American countries have ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989), the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (2008), just as the Inter-American Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities (2001) and implemented their principles legally. This article summarizes the observations and recommendations of the Committee on the Rights of the Child in what refers to the education of persons with disabilities. Important advances can be observed in lawmaking’s that contrast with the discrimination which still exists in many countries.
