  • Resumen
    • Physics bachelor’s degrees account for about 2% of all STEM bachelor’s degrees and less than 0.5% of all bachelor’s degrees. As seen in the graph below, the number of STEM bachelor’s degrees produced in the US has grown faster than the number of physics bachelor’s degrees over the last decade or so. Less than one-fourth of the students earning bachelor’s degrees in physics are women, while about 45% of those earning a degree in any physical science discipline are women. Many efforts have been made to increase diversity in physics, including SEA Change and STEP UP, which are supported by AAPT.
