  • Resumen
    • More than 40% of students graduating with a physics bachelor’s degree in 2021 or 2022 took a second-year Advanced Placement physics course; another one-sixth took AP Physics 1. We know from last month’s column that having taken a high school physics class is one of the most frequently cited influences for an individual to pursue an undergraduate degree in physics. The higher the level of physics course a student took, the more likely they were to report that as influencing their decision to major in physics. While very few physics bachelor degree recipients took conceptual physics as their highest physics class in high school, about 45% of those reported it as a factor in their decision.
