Las imágenes audiovisuales poseen un gran poder de influencia en los pensamientos de sus espectadores. No obstante, no es válido todo lo que transmite y por ese motivo, hay que enseñar al alumnado no solo a ver una película, sino a interpretarla y a ser críticos con lo que comunica. Este valor comunicativo que posee es fruto de la capacidad de estar en constante cambio y crecimiento, sin embargo, no en todos los ámbitos avanza igual. Un ejemplo es la imagen de la mujer, pues aunque se hayan podido percibir cambios en su representación a lo largo de la historia del cine, aun sigue impregnada de estereotipos de género.
Un estilo de animación cada vez más demandado en los más jóvenes es el anime, sin embargo, siempre ha sido origen de debate la imagen que se le otorga a la mujer. Por ese motivo, la presente investigación está centrada en dos películas del productor Hiromasa Yonebayashi tituladas El recuerdo de Marnie (2014) y Mary y la flor de la bruja (2017), con el fin de analizar la representación de las mujeres en el anime, el papel que desempeñan a nivel profesional y el impacto que puede tener en el alumnado. Además, aprovechando el interés que suscita al alumnado la animación, este tipo de obras pueden ser usadas como una forma alternativa de literatura, puesto que ambas obras están basadas en novelas infantiles y juvenile

Audiovisual images possess great power to influence the thoughts of their viewers. However, not everything they transmit is valid, and for that reason, it is necessary to teach students not only to watch a movie but to interpret it and to be critical of what it communicates. This communicative value it holds is the result of its ability to be in constant change and growth;
however, it does not advance equally in all areas. An example is the portrayal of women, as although changes in their representation have been perceived throughout the history of cinema, it is still imbued with gender stereotypes.
An animation style increasingly demanded by younger audiences is anime; however, the portrayal of women in it has always been a subject of debate. For this reason, the present research is focused on two films by the producer Hiromasa Yonebayashi titled «When Marnie Was There» (2014) and «Mary and the Witch’s Flower» (2017), in order to analyze the representation of women in anime, the roles they play on a professional level, and the impact it may have on students. Furthermore, taking advantage of the interest that animation arouses in students, this type of work can be used as an alternative form of literature, since both works are based on children’s and young adult novels
