    En este trabajo se presentan los resultados de un taller de lectura aplicado a estudiantes universitarios de recién ingreso en el área de ingeniería con el objetivo de motivar el desarrollo de la lectura en el contexto de la educación superior y distinguir las funciones de la lectura: formarse, informarse y distraerse. La metodología fue de intervención, se diseñó un taller con diversas actividades para promover la lectura de textos científicos y literarios.

    El taller se desarrolló durante el semestre agosto-diciembre de 2022; así mismo, se aplicó un instrumento al inicio y al concluir el taller con la finalidad de mediar su concepción de la lectura y la utilización para su formación académica y literaria. Lo que se encontró es que en el imaginario de los estudiantes la lectura es tediosa y por lo tanto aburrida, actividad que evitan realizar a menos que sea indispensable para alguna actividad escolar.

    Después del taller su percepción se modificó, tomando conciencia de que la palabra escrita desempeña un papel muy amplio, es necesaria para desarrollar las habilidades lectoras y potenciar su conocimiento

    This paper presents the results of a reading workshop applied to newly admitted university students in the area of engineering with the aim of motivating the development of reading in the context of higher education and distinguishing the functions of reading: training, be informed and entertained. The methodology was intervention, a workshop was designed with various activities to promote the reading of scientific and literary texts. The workshop took place during the semester August-December 2022; Likewise, an instrument was applied at the beginning and at the end of the workshop in order to mediate their conception of reading and its use for their academic and literary training. What was found is that in the students’ imagination, reading is tedious and therefore boring, an activity that they avoid doing unless it is essential for some school activity. After the workshop, their perception changed, becoming aware that the written word plays a very broad role, as university students it is necessary to develop reading skills and enhance their knowledge
