    This article aims to share the initial development of the study called "The teaching/learning of art in the early years of basic education: conceptions and perceptions of teachers in public schools in Belém-PA". It presents discussions on teaching/learning art in the early years of basic education; reflections on current legislation and art teaching, and on the role of the art teacher and the pedagogue in the early years of elementary school. The ideas presented are based on Barbosa (1998, 2005, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2015), Coutinho (2012), and Rossi (2014), among others, who were fundamental in elucidating the reflections on the issues herein addressed. The results point to the need to invest in educational policies that prioritize the teaching/learning of art in the early years of basic education.

    Este artigo tem o propósito de compartilhar o desenvolvimento inicial da pesquisa denominada “O ensino/aprendizagem de Arte nos anos iniciais da Educação Básica: as concepções e percepções dos professores das escolas públicas de Belém-PA”. Apresenta discussões sobre: ensino/aprendizagem de Arte nos anos iniciais da educação básica; reflexões sobre a legislação e o Ensino da Arte, e discute a atuação do professor de Arte e do professor de Pedagogia nos anos iniciais do ensino fundamental. A metodologia é de cunho qualitativo descritivo e as ideias apresentadas são fundamentadas em Barbosa (1988,1998, 2005, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2015), Coutinho (2012), Rossi (2014), dentre outros autores, que foram fundamentais para elucidar as reflexões acerca dos assuntos aqui abordados. Os resultados apontam para a necessidade de se investir em políticas educacionais que priorizem o ensino/aprendizagem de Arte nos anos iniciais da educação básica.
