Motivación académica y su influencia en el desarrollo de las capacidades de estudiantes en el área de inglés

    La investigación tuvo como objetivo establecer la relación de la Motivación académica, entendida como comportamiento y compromiso del estudiante, con las capacidades del área de inglés en lo que hace a la producción oral (speaking) y escrita (writing). La investigación se desarrolló según un enfoque cuantitativo, de tipo sustantivo, de diseño no experimental y transversal; la muestra estuvo conformada por 121 alumnos del 2° y 3° año de la Escuela Nacional de Marina Mercante. Se utilizó el cuestionario de motivación académica y la prueba de capacidades, obteniendo resultados válidos y confiables a través del alpha de Cronbach y KR 20 respectivamente. Los resultados a través del Rho Spearman determinan la existencia de una relación significativa entre la motivación académica y la capacidad de producción oral (speaking), en el sentido de que una mayor motivación académica se corresponde con una mejor habilidad de producción oral en el idioma inglés, pero no con la producción escrita (writing).

    The objective of the research was to establish the relationship of the academic motivation in the capacities of the English area, understood as behavior and commitment of the student linked to the development of oral production skills (speaking) and written production (writing). The research was developed according to a quantitative approach, of a substantive type, of non-experimental and transversal design; the sample consisted of 121 students from the 2nd and 3rd year of the National School of Merchant Marine. The academic motivation questionnaire and the capacity test were used, obtaining valid and reliable results through the alpha of Cronbach and KR 20 respectively. The results through the Rho Spearman determine the existence of a significant influence between the academic motivation and the oral production capacity (speaking), concluding that the higher the academic motivation, the better the oral production ability will be obtained in the English language but not in the written production.
