Older adults are an important part of our society, however, technological advances have created a challenge for them, as they have surpassed their learning capacity and have created a digital gap between generations. This gap is reflected in the inability of many older people to use digital tools such as smartphones, computers or tablets, which has led to call them "digital illiterates". In this article, the influence of digital tools was analyzed in one of the older adult clubs of the Gerontological Center "Dr. Arsenio de la Torre Marcillo" in Guayaquil city, Ecuador, during the pandemic. The digital tools preferred by older adults were investigated, as well as their influence, interest and motivation to use them. A quantitative study was carried out by means of a survey consisting of 17 questions, collecting data in person. The sample included 50 older adults, mostly women, aged between 60 and 96 years, belonging to the Cami 5 - Cisne 2 club, located in the southwest of the city. The data collected were analyzed using percentage calculations and presented in the form of statistical graphs. The results revealed that many of the participants lacked digital tools during the pandemic due to economic constraints, which influenced their poor knowledge of how to use them.
