The paper discusses the forms that interlinguistic crossover or code-mixing takes in postmigratory Belgian prose in French. This code-mixing can be lexical, phraseological, phonetic or grammatical. In the analyzed texts, it fulfils the following functions: characterizing, distancing, diegetic, referential, ideological, ludic and critical.
