Retos y desafíos en el proceso de aprendizaje del inglés: reflexiones y perspectivas

    En el presente ensayo se desarrolla un análisis crítico teórico sobre el proceso de enseñanza aprendizaje del idioma inglés dentro del contexto ecuatoriano, para lo cual se realiza la revisión de varios trabajos que ayudan a justificar y evidenciar porque los estudiantes y la sociedad en general tiene cierto miedo o resistencia hacia el aprendizaje de este idioma. En este sentido se analiza principalmente el trabajo de Jaime, Castillejos y Reyes (2021), que dan a conocer algunas razones de resistencia en el aprendizaje del inglés, además, se analiza los resultados publicados por Education First (2021), en su Índice del Dominio del Inglés de EF, en el que se puede identificar que Ecuador actualmente se ubica en el puesto 90 a nivel mundial en la evaluación realizada sobre los niveles de conocimiento del idioma inglés. Finalmente, con la intención de mejorar estos niveles de conocimiento y disminuir el temor en el aula se propone que los docentes implementen los juegos educativos en la enseñanza del inglés, para que los estudiantes se sientan más motivados e interesados por aprender y así obtener mejores aprendizajes, puesto que, se ha demostrado que la motivación y las metas que el estudiante se plantee está directamente relacionado con el rendimiento académico y alcance de logros.

    In the present essay, a critical theoretical analysis is developed on the teaching-learning process of the English language within the Ecuadorian context, for which the review of several works is carried out that help to justify and demonstrate why students and society in general have certain fear or resistance towards learning this language. In this sense, the work of Jaime, Castillejos and Reyes (2021), is mainly analyzed, which reveal some reasons for resistance in learning English, in addition, the results published by Education First (2021), are analyzed, in its English Proficiency Index, in which it can be identified that Ecuador currently ranks 90th worldwide in the evaluation carried out on the levels of knowledge of the English language. Finally, with the intention of improving these levels of knowledge and reducing fear in the classroom, it is proposed that teachers implement educational games in the teaching of English, so that students feel more motivated and interested in learning and thus obtain better learning, since it has been shown that the motivation and goals that the student sets are directly related to academic performance and scope of achievements.
