  • Objective: Key factors affecting students’ mental well-being include academic fatigue and cognitive abilities. Expressive art therapy has been proposed as a possible treatment for these issues. The objective of this study was to investigate the influence of expressive art therapy on students’ cognitive abilities and academic burnout, specifically examining the role of self-efficacy and perfectionism as mediators. The study also sought to investigate the impact of expressive art therapy on teacher training. Methodology: A total of 385 students specializing in psychoeducation were included in the quantitative study. Questionnaires were utilised to evaluate academic fatigue, cognitive abilities, perfectionism, and self-efficacy. Regression analysis and other relevant statistical techniques, such as mediation and moderation studies, were employed to analyse the data. Results: The findings indicate that the utilisation of expressive art therapy leads to a considerable reduction in academic burnout among students. The study also revealed that cognitive abilities had a positive influence on teacher preparation and student mental health. Perfectionism and self-efficacy play important roles as mediators and moderators in these connections. Conclusion: This study enhances our comprehension by shedding light on the positive effects of expressive art therapy on students’ cognitive abilities and academic fatigue. It further emphasises the significance of taking into account individual variations, such as perfectionism, when evaluating the effectiveness of expressive art therapy. The significance of self-efficacy as a moderator highlights the mechanism through which expressive art therapy enhances student well-being. The study highlights the potential benefits of integrating expressive art therapy into teacher preparation programmes, suggesting a more comprehensive approach to addressing student mental health.
