ABSTRACT: This research focuses on the relationship between the so-called Specialized Protection Programs in Educational Reintegration (PDE) and schools in the Chilean context. This relationship, based on the common goal of re-enlisting children and adolescents in education, takes place in a context of educational exclusion. The study aims to know and describe the factors that can facilitate or, where appropriate, hinder processes of reincorporation into the educational system. To do this, from a qualitative research approach, five semi-structured interviews with PDE directors are analyzed, as specialized witnesses in situations of educational disengagement and re-engagement. The results show that the bureaucratization and complexity of the educational system in the re-enlistment processes, the socioeconomic conditions and the risk of social stigma that accompanies the student body participating in PDE are clear barriers to the inclusion of these students in the short, medium and long term. The improvement in school management is presented as a key aspect to favor and enhance communication and collaboration between agents and educational programs involved in the inclusion of students.
