Objectives: The aim was to evaluate the effectiveness of painting therapy in psychoeducation for improving self-acceptance in adolescents, and to provide a new psychological intervention approach for self-acceptance in the group of adolescents. Methods: The study used quasi-experimental research, nonequivalent experimental/control group pre-posttest design. The measurement tool is the Self-Acceptance Questionnaire. The subjects are junior and senior high school students aged 12-18 years in Hebei Province, totally 29 participants joined painting therapy psychoeducation intervention. This experiment process was totally conducted for 10 weeks. The pre-post test scores of the experimental and control groups were compared and analyzed. Results: The results show that painting therapy applied to psychoeducation can improve the level of self-acceptance among adolescents effectively. Conclusion: This study may provide a new intervention approach for improving self-acceptance and may provide a reference and contribution to future research on self-acceptance, painting therapy and psychoeducation.
