  El embarazo significa para el organismo materno una sobrecarga en sus necesidades metabólicas determinadas por la organogénesis fetal y el crecimiento tisular de estos órganos y que se extiende desde el tercero al noveno mes de gestación. La problemática a desarrollar interfiere en los siguientes hechos: la influencia de la alimentación en el embarazo sobre la madre y sobre el producto y los requerimientos nutritivos en la preñez y la lactancia.
