Comportamiento reproductivo del bovino criollo guaymí bajo diferentes condiciones de manejo

    Durante el periodo 2011-2021 se determinó, bajo diferentes condiciones de manejo, el comportamiento reproductivo del bovino Guaymí en los hatos de conservación de Río Hato y El Coco de Penonomé. La alimentación se basó en el pastoreo con suplementación, la mayor parte del tiempo con sal proteinada, la carga animal varió de 0,8 a 1,6 UA.ha-1. El destete fue natural y la monta continua, con empadre de las novillas a partir de 0,13,15 y 17 meses de edad. El 59% de 44 novillas concibieron antes de los 19 meses de edad con peso promedio de 232 ± 22 kg y alcanzaron edad al primer parto de 25,9 ± 2,2 meses. Con empadre desde el nacimiento hasta los 19 meses de edad el 36, 46, y 18% de los pesos a la primera concepción estuvieron en los rangos de 200 – 210 kg, 220 – 240 kg y 240 – 270 kg, respectivamente. Estando estos pesos correlacionados con la edad a la concepción y el peso a edad adulta. El intervalo entre parto, alcanzado con presencia de toros en los días abiertos entre el parto y la concepción, fue de 12,6 ± 2 meses y el intervalo entre el primero y segundo parto fue de 13,4 ± 3,3 meses. La raza mostró una alta eficiencia reproductiva cuando el empadre de las novillas fue a partir de los 0-15 meses de edad, se suplementó con sal proteinada y la carga animal varió de 0,8 a 1,2 UA.ha-1. Con este manejo el 100% de las novillas, de un total de 12, concibieron con peso promedio de 235 ± 28 kg y alcanzaron una edad al primer parto de 24,5 ± 2,2 meses.

    During the period 2011-2021, the reproductive performance of Guaymí cattle was determined under different management conditions in the conservation herds of Río Hato and El Coco of Penonomé. Feeding was based on grazing, with supplementation most of the time with protein salt, the stocking rate varied between 0.8-1.6 AU.ha-1. Weaning was natural and mating continued, with mating of heifers from 0,13,15 and 17 moths of age. 59% of 44 heifers conceived before 19 months of age with an average weight of 232 ± 22 kg and reached an age at first calving of 25.9 ± 2.2 months. With sire from birth to 19 months of age, 36, 48, and 18% of the weights at the first conception were in the ranges of 200-210, 220-240, and 240-270 kg, respectively. Being these weights correlated with the age at conception and the weight at adulthood. The calving Interval, achieved with the presence of bulls on open days between calving and conception, was 12.6 ± 2 months and the Interval between the first and second calving was 13.4 ± 3.3 months. The breed showed high reproductive efficiency when heifers were bred from 0-15 months of age, protein salt was supplemented and the stocking rate varied from 0.8 a 1.2 AU.ha-1. With this management, 100% of the heifers, out of a total of 12, conceived, with an average weight of 235 ± 28 kg and reached an age at first calving of 24.5 ± 2.2 months.
