Kazetaritzaren izaera eten gabe aldatzen da. Digitalizazioak, aldiz, ez ditu horrenbeste aldatu kazetaritzak beti izan dituen printzipio nagusiak, baina albisteen produkzioan eta kontsumoan usadio eta nahien aldaketa handi samarra ekarri du. Jakina, negozio-ereduak ere aldatu ditu. Inguru honetan, kazetaritza-ikasleek abilitate berriak landu behar dituzte, ez bakarrik komunikabide digitaletan lan egiteko, idazteko, diseinatzeko. Baita komunikabide digital horiek nolakoak diren ulertu eta aztertu ahal izateko, hainbat ikuspuntutatik. Ikasgaiaren helburua da beste batzuk osatzea, praktikoagoak, eta profil analitikoagoa lantzea, hala nola kalitatea nola ebaluatu ikasteko, ikuspuntu konparatibo eta nazioarteko batetik abiatuta. Kalitatea da, beraz, proposamen honen ardatza, hiru mailatan: enpresa, mezuak eta erabiltzaileen interakzioa.

The nature of technology and journalism is in permanent change. Digitalization has not changed the core principles that underlie journalism, yet it has allowed a shift in terms of habits, capacities and expectations of news production and news consumption –and of course of business models–. In this context, working on and checking the set of structures, activities, principals, themes, norms, and routines that appear to aid journalists (or be missing) in their pursuit of digital excellence is a truly meaningful task for students of journalism. The final goal of this proposal is to complement some other courses, more devoted to coach future online journalist in the skills of web media (newswriting, design, etc.) and provide them with a more analytic profile as well, insisting on the ability to assess the journalistic quality of online media outlets, to define criteria for analysing journalistic content and to critically apply these criteria to media coverage and the recognition of cultural diversity and international journalistic traditions. To this purpose, we propose to assess the quality of digital media on the Internet. Quality in online journalism is therefore the core issue in this proposal. Hence, students will look for the best practices in international news coverage online through three main levels: company, messages, and user interaction.
