  • My contribution aims to study the importan! role that linguistic variance plays in the translation of literary texts. As instances of the most complex sort of texts, their translation has to begin with an analysis of the text to be translated and it requires an acute sensitivity to the different aspects of linguistic variance in both languages involved in the translation. lt has to attend to the different aspects of variance: geographical, social, and stylistic. I will present sorne of the problems in volved and give examples of translations for each problem.
