    Este artículo analiza el papel de los seglares en la Acción Católica (AC) en México y en Italia. La feligresía de México, después de la derrota del Movimiento Cristero y la fundación del Acción Católica Mexicana (ACM), se encaminó hacia un riguroso control que el episcopado mantuvo gracias a la consolidación de la ACM y a su estructura vertical donde, en la cima de la pirámide, la alta jerarquía mexicana implementó una acción de estricta vigilancia sobre los seglares. Por igual, en Italia, la refundación y consolidación de la Acción Católica Italiana (ACI) implementó un régimen donde la feligresía no tenía la posibilidad de desarrollar acciones autónomas respecto al clero.

    This article analyzes the role of Christian laity in Catholic Action in Mexico and Italy. The parishioners of Mexico, after the defeat of the Cristero Movement and the founding of the Mexican Catholic Action (ACM), headed towards a rigorous control that the episcopate maintained thanks to the consolidation of the ACM and its vertical structure where, at the top of pyramid, the high Mexican hierarchy implemented an action of strict surveillance over the laity. Likewise, in Italy, the refoundation and consolidation of the Italian Catholic Action (ACI) implemented a regime where the parishioners did not have the possibility of developing autonomous actions with respect to the clergy.
