Cuentos ejemplares para favorecer la alfabetización y la inclusión social en educación básica

    El analfabetismo funcional es un enorme problema de desarrollo humano que favorece a corto, mediano y largo plazo la exclusión social y, con ello, la ignorancia y la pobreza, por lo que es importante concebir la alfabetización como un acto de justicia educativa que trabaje contra la descomposición y la explotación. Partimos de la revisión documental para aproximarnos a la evolución del concepto “alfabetización” a fin de comprender los significados que ha ido adoptando y, así, poner en tensión nuestro supuesto de que justo ahí residen algunas raíces del problema. Asimismo, realizamos un primer acercamiento al sistema educativo mexicano mediante encuestas a docentes de sexto grado de escuelas primariasfocalizadas en el marco del proyecto “Cuántos cuentos cuentas: fichero ejemplar”, el cual se suma a la tendencia actual que reconoce la utilidad didáctica de los cuentos en la formación de niños y jóvenes. Identificamos como principales obstáculos para la alfabetización el abandono de dos dimensiones básicas de la lectura: imaginación y memoria; además de la escasez de libros en los entornos educativos, resulta preocupante que muchos docentes padecen el problema educativo que aqueja a sus alumnos: poseen una habilidad que no practican, el placer de leer se ha extraviado.

    Functional illiteracy is a huge human development problem that favors social exclusion in the short, medium and long term and, with it, ignorance andpoverty, so it is important to conceive literacy as an act of educational justice that works against decomposition and exploitation. We started from documentary review to approach the evolution of the concept of “literacy” in order to understand the meanings that it has been adopting and, thus, put in tension our assumption that some roots of the problem reside right there. Likewise, we carried out a first approach to the Mexican educational system through surveys of sixth grade teachers of primary schools focused on the project “Cuántos cuentos cuentas: fichero ejemplar”, which joins the currenttrend that recognizes the didactic usefulness of the stories in the formation of children and young people. We identified as main obstacles to literacy the abandonment of two basic dimensions of reading: imagination and memory; besides the scarcity of books in educational settings, it is worrying that many teachers suffer from the educational problem that afflicts their students: they have a skill that they do not practice, the pleasure of reading has been lost or remains absent.
