Resumen de La pintura de María Dolores Casanova (1914-2007): estudio de su trayectoria y obra artística

La reciente adquisición de una obra de María Dolores Casanova por parte del Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía implica un reconocimiento artístico negado durante décadas. La artista ocupó un lugar destacado en el panorama artístico valenciano desde 1969 hasta finales de los años ochenta. Sin embargo, progresivamente, ha ido cayendo en el olvido. La investigación que aquí se presenta posee un carácter inédito, dada la ausencia de análisis amplios sobre su pintura, y se constituye como el primer estudio exhaustivo y en profundidad de su trayectoria y obra pictórica. Su objetivo principal es subsanar la carencia que su omisión implica en la historia del arte del siglo XX en nuestro país. Para ello, se han examinado numerosas de sus creaciones, pertenecientes a museos y colecciones privadas, realizado entrevistas a sus familiares y consultado documentos inéditos en el CIDA del MACVAC y el Museu de Belles Arts de València.

The recent acquisition of a work by María Dolores Casanova by the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía implies an artistic recognition that had been denied for decades. The artist occupied a prominent place in the Valencian artistic scene from 1969 until the end of the eighties. However, she has been progressively falling into oblivion. The research presented here has an unprecedented character, given the absence of comprehensive analysis of her painting, and constitutes the first exhaustive and in-depth study of her trajectory and her pictorial work. Its main objective is to correct the lack that her omission implies in the history of art of the 20th century in our country. To this end, numerous of her creations, belonging to museums and private collections, have been examined, interviews have been conducted with her relatives, and unpublished documents have been consulted at the CIDA of MACVAC and the Museu de Belles Arts de València.
