  • Resumen
    • This article examines the different narrative strategies put into play in the films The Mystery of Picasso (Le mystère Picasso, Henri Georges Clouzot, 1956) and Dream of Light (El sol del membrillo, Víctor Erice 1992).

Both were originally based on the same premise, that of unraveling the mysteries of the creative act by “aiming for the purest form of voyeurism in the direction of the audience’s gaze”. Through a comparative analysis of the use of space and time in the two productions, an attempt is made to reveal the discursive scaffolding upon which each has been constructed. In some aspects the frameworks of the two films are shown to rest on evidently opposing abstract views with regard to artistic creation.
