Film is a resource for the teaching-learning of science that encourages critical thinking and reflection. This study presents an experience with grade-10 (15-16 years) students in learning about genetic inheritance through the characters of the Harry Potter saga. The activity was rated with 7.92/10 points and the majority of students found it somewhat simple, somewhat useful, somewhat interesting and very engaging. They also made suggestions for improvement. This experience is suitable for developing students’ learning about science, awakening their interest, and allowing them to reflect on their own learning.
