The efforts to look at the past century of teaching chemistry in celebration of the Journal of Chemical Education’s milestone of publishing its 100th volume are reviewed. The conclusion of volume 100 allows the examination of this delightful, but challenging, year-long task of how to exemplify 100 years of teaching innovations that have touched every subdiscipline of chemistry. Looking at the rich trajectory of improvement in teaching and learning of chemical sciences strongly suggests that the second century of the Journal of Chemical Education will be as dynamic, creative, accomplished, and relevant as the first 100 years.
