  El presente artículo presenta la importancia de la descripción del tipo de bilingüismo en los estudios de interpretación. En primer lugar, se presentan elementos teóricos que permiten establecer la relación entre los estudios de bilingüismo y los estudios de interpretación, con el propósito de justificar la importancia que tiene una descripción del bilingüismo cuando se investigan procesos psicolingüísticos propios de la interpretación. Se presenta el Language Experience and Proficiency Questionnaire (LEAP-Q) como la herramienta que se utilizó para dicha descripción, al igual que los resultados de su aplicación. Por último, se ofrece una descripción del tipo de bilingüismo que presentan los aprendientes de interpretación que conformaron la población de estudio y se invita a entablar un contraste entre los resultados que se obtienen a partir de bilingües que realizan prácticas de interpretación con aquellos que no.

  This article presents the importance of describing bilingualism in Interpreting Studies. First, theoretical elements are presented in order to show the relation between Bilingualism Studies and Interpreting Studies, hence the importance of describing bilingualism when carrying out research on the psycholinguistic process of the interpreter. The Language Experience and Proficiency Questionnaire (LEAP-Q) is presented as the methodology employed to describe the type of bilingualism, as well as the results of its application. Lastly, a description of the type of bilingualism in interpreting students is offered, inviting to create a contrast between results obtained from bilinguals who carry out interpreting practices with those who do not.
