  • The article presents a didactisation of a text analysis based on the diachronic marking in the novella.

    Das Kloster bei Sendomir (1828) by F. Grillparzer. The exercise has been designed as part of a teaching unit for the 3rd semester course in Translation Theory and History. The didactic unit deals with the translation process and explores key concepts like translation problem and decision-making. The exercise revolves around the initial phase of the translation process and centres on the specific translation problem of diachrony and the decision concerning the translation strategy destined to solve it. To enhance collaborative learning, students are asked to work in groups of three. After reading the entire text, the groups will analyse a text fragment, extract all lexical elements showing diachronic marking and classify them. The final stage of the exercise consists of a discussion on the translation strategy for the treatment of the diachronic marking.
