The aim of this article is to support the notion of literacy as a multidimensional concept, while proposing a toolkit for teachers to work with born-digital and multimodal texts in English. I will focus on the open access materials created in 2020 by the Valencian Education Government, “Interdisciplinary Project on.
Digital Culture”: a graded material addressed to students aged 12-16 that was elaborated as a response to the current multilingual education policies. This subject taught in English by means of CLIL/EMI methodology and whose contents are based on Digital Culture also fulfils two main needs for students in the 21st century: the digital education and the internationalization of learning. I will then discuss the teachers' awareness of differing and changing communicative practices in the classroom, while implementing the Multiliteracies.
Pedagogy approach. The final objective of the article is to guide teachers, on the one hand, with a multimodal learning path and students, on the other, to think critically and to create meaning in English out of the digital world representations.
