The present work is a study that aims to investigate the benefits of using the computational resource Modellus, in the teaching-learning process of the concept of functions, starting from a problem of reality, suggested by the students. The research was carried out in a 9th grade class of a public school, using a sequence of activities, with duration of 30 hours and participation of 17 regularly enrolled students. The mathematical subject refers to the functions, approaching general and essential concepts, construction of models from physical problems, and study of tables and graphs. The themes were worked out in order to allow the researched student to relate the content to their daily lives. For the analysis of results, questionnaires with descriptive questions were applied before and after the activities were carried out. Thus, itis concluded that the Modellus software was adequate for this 9th grade class, according to the data analyzed in this work
