    Existe en nuestro país una situación crucial para el estudiante que se encuentra en nivel de educación media donde se le plantea la elección de una opción educativa, ya sea de nivel propedéudico o de un nivel terminal. Es la Orientación Educativa la disciplina a la que se le ha encontrado la tarea de auxiliarlo en esta importante tarea. Comúnmente se admite que la elección vocacional es un paso, tal vez no definitivo, aunque si determinante en alguna medida de las decisiones posteriores que tenga que tomar el estudiante; también se dice que esté eligiendo un estilo de vida propio de la actividad ocupacional que se elija desempeñar.

    Students at secondary school level in our country have to face a critical situation as at this stage that they are expected to select an educational option, it being either a presessional or a terminal matter level. Educational counseling is the subject entrusted with the task of assisting the student in the most significant decision. It is usually admitted taht the choice of vocation is a step which can be determinant in further decisions the student chooses to make, perhaps not in a final way, but certainly up to point ; it is also an accepted fact that when the student chooses the ocupational activity he/she wishes to perform, he/she is also deciding upon the life style which is characteristic of it.
