Resumen
Crazy about biochemistry is on of thecourses included in the program lead by LaPedrera Science Academy. This course inparticular aims to shown to 16 and 17 yearsstudents some of the basic concepts in whichbiochemistry is involved. In this course 24students come to the Faculty of Biology fromUniversitat de Barcelona during 10 Saturdays toperform a variety of experiments going from themost basic techniques, like SDS-PAGE orbacterial transformation, to the most advancedand up to date techniques such as CRISPRCas9. Thus, in each of the sessions the studentslearn about a completely different topic in thefield of biochemistry, from its most basic aspectslike protein structure to the neurosiences. Asidefrom this a huge range of techniques areintroduced to the students ranging fromconventional PCRs to multidimensionalmicroscopy. Hence, making this project theperfect gateway for young future scientists tolearn about STEM.
