    La generación de conocimiento es una función de gran relevancia para las instituciones educativas, pues a través de ella se pueden solucionar muchos de los problemaspresentes en la sociedad en general, a la vez que permite la adaptación y actualizaciónconstante a las nuevas exigencias del entorno, independientemente del área estudiada. El objetivo de esta revisión es caracterizar la redacción como herramienta clavepara la generación de conocimiento. La revisión fue descriptiva, fundamentada en unabúsqueda exhaustiva de la bibliografía referida a la redacción y construcción del conocimiento. Los resultados revelan que existen debilidades en la redacción en muchos delos estudios, destacando los estudios realizados en instituciones de educación superior.Se concluye que se deben realizar planes para la formación tanto estudiantil comodocente de los diversos niveles en el área de investigación y desarrollo de pensamiento crítico que se sustente en un discurso coherente logrado mediante una pertinenteredacción.

    The generation of knowledge is a function of great relevance for educational institutions, because through it many of the problems present in society in general canbe solved, while allowing constant adaptation and updating to the new demands ofthe environment. regardless of the area studied. The objective of this review is tocharacterize writing as a key tool for the generation of knowledge. The review wasdescriptive, based on an exhaustive search of the bibliography referring to the writingand construction of knowledge. The results reveal that there are weaknesses in thewriting in many of the studies, highlighting the studies carried out in higher educationinstitutions. It is concluded that plans must be made for the training of both studentsand teachers of the various levels in the area of research and development of criticalthinking that is based on a coherent discourse achieved through a pertinent writing.
