According to the latest studies, the constructivist approach contributes to the developmentof new methods and techniques for teaching and learning second languages. His main ideashighlight the importance of prior knowledge in the learning process and encourage and motivateto build new linguistic and cultural knowledge for himself. The student can also relyon his teacher, his classmates, authentic materials, etc. The fundamental objective of thispaper is to present the main lines of research in the field of constructivism and the learning /teaching of a foreign language. We pay special attention to the development of interculturalcommunicative competence. Finally, we present various activities that show how teacherscan promote and facilitate the learning of Spanish through intercultural interaction.
