Resumen de La tecnología 5G y su papel en la conversión de las ciudades en Smart Cities: el caso de Segovia

La carrera por el desarrollo de la tecnología 5G ha comenzado y las principales compañías de telefonía están inmersas en el diseño de sus respectivas redes. Los distintos operadores españoles trabajan a contrarreloj en las pruebas de la que será una de las herramientas imprescindibles para consolidar la implantación de la denominada Industria 4.0. Telefónica ha elegido Segovia y Talavera de la Reina como localidades piloto en las que ensayar las posibilidades y capacidades de la nueva generación de banda ancha móvil. Este artículo explica, centrándose en el caso de Segovia, qué supone ser ciudad laboratorio de esta nueva tecnología que marcará el desarrollo de los próximos años. Para ello, se analiza la documentación elaborada desde el Gobierno, Telefónica y el propio Ayuntamiento de Segovia sobre el desarrollo del 5G y qué expectativas tienen desde el gobierno de la ciudad del Acueducto ante la llegada de esta nueva tecnología.

The race for the development of 5G technology has begun and the main telephone companies are immersed in the design of their respective networks. The different Spanish operators work against the clock in the tests of which will be one of the essential tools to consolidate the implementation of the so-called Industry 4.0. Telefónica has chosen Segovia and Talavera de la Reina as pilot locations in which to test the possibilities and capabilities of the new generation of mobile broadband. This article explains, focusing on the case of Segovia, what it means to be a laboratory city of this new technology that will mark the development of the coming years. To this end, the documentation prepared by the Government, Telefónica and the Segovia City Council on the development of the 5G and what expectations it has from the government of this city before the arrival of this new technology is analyzed
