    This article proposes a work of reflection when studying the indigenous representations in the literary work of indigenous authorship. For that, the book selected was Karu Taru - the little shaman, by Daniel Munduruku. Thus, we will analyze this work of children's literature, first by the bias of the search for identity and concept of representation, with the theoretical contribution of Stuart Hall (2012), then by the propagation of culture, based on Eagleton (2005), interpolating their meanings with concept of liminal thinking of Mignolo (2003). Thus, this work intends to fulfill the important role of propagating the culture of a people in the construction of its notion of otherness, contributing with the debate in this area and with the dissemination of these works bought and distributed by the government to the Brazilian public schools.

    Este artigo propõe um trabalho de reflexão ao estudar as representações indígenas na obra literária de autoria indígena. Para tanto, o livro selecionado foi Karu Taru – o pequeno pajé, de Daniel Munduruku. Assim, analisaremos essa obra de literatura infantil, primeiro pelo viés da busca da identidade e conceito de representação, com aporte teórico de Stuart Hall (2012), depois pela propagação da cultura, com base em Eagleton (2005), interpolando suas significações com o conceito de pensamento liminar de Mignolo (2003). Assim, este trabalho pretende cumprir o importante papel de propagadora da cultura de um povo na construção de sua noção de alteridade, contribuindo com o debate nessa área e com a divulgação dessas obras compradas e distribuídas pelo governo para as escolas públicas brasileiras.
