  • Resumen
    • Digital storytelling has undoubtedly contributed positively to the teaching-learning process in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) of the Primary-Education class. This paper aims to examine two types of instruments available onthe net for the practice of digital storytelling: resources with already-made materials and tools for creating genuine materials. In the first type of instruments,we analysed the language, the images, and the characters appearing in twotales (Cinderella and Hansel and Gretel) from four resources: Stories to Grow(STG); American Literature (AL); Storyberries (SBR); and Stories for kids (SFK). Inthe second type of instruments, we examined the free creation of texts, thepossibility to choose the background, and the selection of characters in threetools: Storybird (SB), Storyboard That (ST) and Storyjumper (SJ). The results ofthe first type revealed that language was appropriate for second and third cycleof Primary Education in STG and SBR; the images were adequate but resourcesdid not present many multimodal elements; and the characters were not illustrated in AL and SFK. Among the results of the second type we found that freecreation of text was available in the three tools, although users were limited towrite according to the artworks selected in SB; the setting images were classified in categories in SJ and SBT; and the characters could be selected independently in SJ and SBT. Finally, we highlighted in two tables the Strengths,Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats of the two types of instruments.
