  • Resumen
    • A Finite Element Model (FEM) is presented to simulate flow of o single phase fluid through a porous media in 2-dimensions.  This model is the initiol phase of  o  research proiect that builds on the development of a general reservoir simulator far three phase flow. The numerical model can be opplied lo heterogeneous fields with constan! thickness but comp lex irregular geometry. No restrictions are imposed in the number of wells in the field. Governing equations and the boundary conditions are specified, followed by a description of  the FEM formulation.  Analyticol solutions are used to verify the predictions of the model in a circular reservoir. lt is also applied in the preliminary simulation of a sedar in the Orito oil field (Ecopetrol) loca ted in the Putumayo_Department (Southern Colombia).
