Cobertura periodística de la crisis venezolana en L’Osservatore Romano durante el año 2018.

    La crisis social en Venezuela tiene un antecedente de más de dos décadas, sin embargo, durante el año 2018, la comunidad internacional desconoció el proceso comicial en el se confirmó para un segundo mandato a Nicolás Maduro, siendo el primer país latinoamericano, en el siglo XXI, con una ruptura en la institucionalidad democrática, que trajo como consecuencia la movilidad migratoria más grande del continente. Por ello, la presente investigación pretende analizar la cobertura periodística de la crisis en el país suramericano, a partir de lo reseñado en L’Osservatore Romano, medio impreso de la Santa Sede, que recoge la información noticiosa y las impresiones de la maquinaria diplomática del Vaticano. El estudio analizó 295 números publicados durante el año de elecciones, a través de la descripción de la relevancia de noticias, el nivel jerárquico con la cuantificación de notas y los espacios que ocupan, y la identificación de los temas, como parte de la decisión editorial en el encuadre de su edición diaria, impresa en italiano. La investigación arrojó que hubo presencia en los doce meses, e incidencias en portada y páginas internas, en más del 70%, de los contenidos abordados durante el período de estudio, y la atención se centró en la situación política y sus implicaciones humanitarias.

    The social crisis in Venezuela has a background of more than two decades, however, during 2018, the international community did not recognize the electoral process in which Nicolás Maduro was confirmed for a second term, being the first Latin American country, in the XXI century, with a rupture in the democratic institutionality, which resulted in the largest migratory mobility of the continent. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the journalistic coverage of the crisis in the South American country, based on what is reported in L'Osservatore Romano, the printed media of the Holy See, which collects news information and the impressions of the Vatican's diplomatic machinery. The study analyzed 295 issues published during the election year, through the description of the relevance of news, the hierarchical level with the quantification of notes and the spaces they occupy, and the identification of the topics, as part of the editorial decision in the framing of its daily edition, printed in Italian. The research showed that more than 70% of the contents covered during the study period were present in the twelve months, and that the focus was on the political situation and its humanitarian implications.
