    El mensaje evangélico del amor a los enemigos ha estado presente en la predicación desde los orígenes del cristianismo. Con apoyo en los textos de Mateo y Lucas que transmiten esta enseñanza de Jesús, la predicación en la España Moderna desarrolló dos grandes líneas doctrinales: la imitatio Christi, de carácter espiritual, y la insistencia en el mandamiento, de carácter moral. La primera línea se detecta en los maestros espirituales y predicadores del s.XVI; la segunda se impondrá en las misiones populares a partir del s. XVII. El cristianismo interior de los ilustrados permite una cierta recuperación de la vía espiritual.

    The evangelical message of love for enemies has been present in preaching since the origins of Christianity. With the support of the texts of Matthew and Luke that transmit this teaching of Jesus, preaching in Modern Spain developed two great doctrinal lines: the imitatio Christi, of a spiritual nature, and the insistence on the commandment, of a moral nature. The first line is detected in the spiritual teachers and preachers of the 16th century; the second was imposed in the popular missions from the seventeenth century. The inner Christianity of the enlightened allows a certain recovery of the spiritual path.
