  • In this paper three electro membrane technologies, Electrodialysis, Electro-Electrodialysis and Electrohidrolysis (bipolar membrane technology; water splitting technology) are described. After studying their fundamentals, a series of examples which show the utility of the above technologies minimize the environmental impact of industrial processes are described. The examples encompass so different industrial areas such as surface treatment industry; chemical industry; foundry; food industry nuclear industry; etc. and generally speaking, any industry where the presence of salts, acids, and bases, both organic and inorganic, could become a pollution problem.
