Didactic material development in teaching English to master’s degree students from the perspective of skills acquisitions and student learning outcomes

    • The purpose of this research is to present didactic material development process with regard to competency-based education. The relevance of this research is accounted for the necessity to integrate new predetermined competency’s achievement indicators (knowledge, skills, abilities) into “Business English” course for Master’s Degree students. This article demonstrates the stages of competency-based educational program development according to the new educational standards. The study used qualitative research methodology. Intended learning outcomes with regard to predetermined competency’s achievement indicators were clarified and expanded. Learning outcomes specifications aligned with the types of assessment activities were identified. Obtained results of the course evaluation during pilot implementation were measured and didactic materials for the course were reviewed and modified. Regular instructions, clear performance criteria, precise learning outcomes specifications increase students’ awareness of learning and lead to successful knowledge acquisition. Providing teachers with didactic materials facilitates teaching process and contributes to the organization and implementation of students’ learning activity.
