    • The “Gallina Valenciana de Chulilla” is an endangered autochthonous chicken breed from the Comunidad Valenciana which is currently being preserved. The objective of this study was to compare the in vitro quality and fertilizing ability of sperm cryopreserved with two different glycerol (G) concentrations (8 and 11%) and two dilution rates (DR; 1:4 and 1:8) for the G removal. The quality was similar form both G concentrations and DR (55 to 62% total motile sperm). However, the fertilizing ability of the sperm cryopreserved with 11% G was close to cero while the group 8% G and DR 1:4 exhibited the highest fertilizing ability (31% of fertilized eggs). In conclusion, the combination 8% G and DR 1:4 is recommended for the cryopreservation of the semen from this breed.
