  • Resumen
    • Increased ovulation rate by selection did not result in a proportionally increased on number of born alive in rabbits. In this study, the effect of 50 IU eCG on ovulation rate, embryo and foetal survival at day 18 of pregnancy, and foetal and placental weights in multiparous rabbit females were investigated. The superovulated females had a higher ovulation rate (around 3 ova) than the control females. However, these females decreased the embryo survival until implantation (-7.2%), showing the same number of implanted embryos. Besides, foetal survival was also decreased (-10.2%) in superovulated females compared to control females, showing a lower number of live foetus at day 18 of pregnancy. Superovulated females presented heavier foetuses (0.12 g) and foetal placenta (0.26 g) than control females.
