  • Batch cultures of mixed rumen micro-organisms were used to study the ruminal fermentation promoted by diets based on agriculture by-products. Gas production and other fermentation parameters were evaluated. There was no effect either of diet type on pH. Significant differences were found on rate of gas, CH4 and VFA production, EM, DMO and FP after 24 h of incubation. CH4/VFA tended to be lower with ET (P=0,058) and PM tended to be lower with EO (P=0,053). Our results showed the potential of ET and PGS to be used in goats feeding.
