Forming democratic citizens, who have critical thinking and certain values that allow them to live in society is a common goal of any educational program. For this it is necessary that the students can control their behavior, which entails a learning of self-knowledge and self-regulation. After a first review of the information related to this topic, an analysis of this was conducted, and an intervention proposal was elaborated based on current legislation, aiming to promote self-control and self-knowledge in students. This proposal was made up of a group of practical activities, organized as a project, which were conducted in a kindergarten classroom with twenty-five five-year-old boys and girls in a public school in the province of Malaga. After the intervention, an analysis of this and its corresponding evaluation was conducted. As a result of this research, we can affirm that it is possible to promote self-control in the classroom, without the need for special resourc- es, focusing the didactic effort on highlighting the potentialities of the students, so that a social and emotional well-being is achieved in them. In addition, it is important to highlight that the project work methodology is an ideal method to achieve the proposed objectives in an inclusive, adapted, respectful and open work environment, where students are the creator of their own learning.
