This research shows the results of a survey made on owners of 75 apurimeña goat farms in 5 provinces from Perú. The herd average size is 13.6 animals. Average herd structure consists of adult animals (> 1 year) [males 1.0 (7.6%) and females 6.3 (45.9%)] and growing animals (<1 year) [6.4 (46.6%]. The flocks are managed in extensive system. Feeding depends basically on grazing. Moreover, farms are predominantly managed by two or three workers, and average age of the holders is 49 years. 81.3% of the producers will continue raising goats. However, in 68% of farms, goat population has decreased in the last five years. This reality justifies that public institutions worry more on supporting and investing money in this sector.
