    El hábito de la lectura contribuye significativamente a mejorar las competencias lingüísticas de los estudiantes. Este trabajo aborda el tema desde el contexto del segundo año de Educación General Básica de la Unidad Educativa María Piedad Castillo de Leví a partir de un diagnóstico que permitió caracterizar la situación actual de este tema en el que están implicados los directivos de la institución, los docentes, las familias y los propios estudiantes. La información obtenida a partir de la aplicación de técnicas de recolección de información como encuestas, entrevistas y observación, confirmó que en la institución educativa existe un déficit en el desarrollo del hábito lector de los estudiantes, cuestión que las autoridades de la institución no han hecho mucho por propender, a lo que se suma la falta de ambientes de aprendizaje para el desarrollo de habilidades en la lectura. Estos resultados dieron lugar al diseño de una estrategia educativa para fomentar el hábito de la lectura en los estudiantes, lo que en esencia constituye el objetivo de este artículo

    The habit of reading contributes significantly to improving the language skills of students. This work approaches the subject from the context of the second year of Basic General Education of the Educational Unit María Piedad Castillo de Leví from a diagnosis that allowed to characterize the current situation of this subject in which the directors of the institution are involved, the teachers, families and students themselves. The information obtained from the application of data collection techniques such as surveys, interviews and observation, confirmed that in the educational institution there is a deficit in the development of the reading habit of the students, an issue that the authorities of the institution have not done. much to tend, to which is added the lack of learning environments for the development of reading skills. These results gave rise to the design of an educational strategy to encourage the habit of reading in students, which in essence constitutes the objective of this article
