    • The expansion of international relations in various fields requires new methodologies in teaching of linguists in translation and interpretation studies. This paper presents project methodology for the development of intercultural communicative competence of linguist students. Modern means of communication allow realizing international educational projects of students from Russia, Germany and Austria. The research defines the following key terms: intercultural communication, intercultural competence, method of international projects. The authors of the paper consider competence-based, activity-oriented, communicative, student-centred and sociocultural pedagogical approaches for intercultural foreign language teaching. We describe common didactic principles of education, methodological and specific methodological principles of intercultural foreign language communication teaching of students from different countries by means of the project activity. We introduce the structure of the established methodology of the international educational projects. The structure includes essential stages and criteria of assessment of this type of projects. The surveys among students and teachers prove the significance of project methodology for the formation and development of the intercultural foreign language communicative competence of linguists in translation and interpretation studies.
